No. The tape works by keeping your lips resting together, so your nose stays the easy route for air. The slit is a short opening at the line of the mouth. It does not hold the lips apart, and with your mouth relaxed it lets very little air through. It is there for the moment your nose feels tight or you wake up and want a breath. In the reviews we read, a full seal was a common reason people gave up after one night. We would rather you keep going.

If your nose is clear, you breathe through it as you already do for most of the night. If something feels wrong, the slit lets air pass and the strip peels off with one hand in about a second. If the idea still makes you nervous, put a strip on half an hour before bed while you read. Many people forget it is there before the light goes off. If you cannot breathe comfortably through your nose, do not use tape at all.

Sometimes, especially in the first week. It usually means the skin was not fully dry, there was balm on the lips, or you pulled it off half asleep. Clean, dry lips fix most of it. If it keeps happening after a week, write to us.

Lift a corner and peel slowly toward the center. The adhesive is chosen to hold overnight and release in the morning. Dry skin with no balm at bedtime makes the morning easier. A little warm water on the strip helps if it feels tight.

Not on the lips or the skin right around them before the strip goes on. Balm and oils stop any tape from sticking. Do your skincare first, wait a few minutes, wipe the lip line dry, then place the strip. Balm on the inner edge of the lips, under the strip, is fine for most people.

Remove makeup around the mouth first. A lip mask under the strip will lift it. If you use an overnight lip mask, use it on the nights you are not taping, or apply it only to the inner lip.

It sits on the lips and the skin right around them. Stubble is fine. A full beard that covers the lips will hold less well. Better to tell you now than after you have bought a box.

You can say a few words through the slit and cough without trouble. To drink, peel it off. It is a single use strip, so put on a fresh one if you take it off for long.

A soft, elastic black fabric strip, 76 by 38 mm, with a hypoallergenic adhesive and a short slit in the middle. We will publish the full material sheet once our first production batch is tested. If you have a known adhesive allergy, do a patch test on the inner arm for a day before the first night.

Our strips are produced by a specialist tape manufacturer in China and shipped to US addresses. We check every batch before it goes out. We are building stateside stock, which is why delivery is 7 to 15 days today.
